Objective
Inspiring Awareness and Knowledge – FIAM works to elevate awareness, provide informative insights, deliver educational experiences, and catalyze research through a range of engaging platforms. These include conferences, webinars, collaborative working sessions, content-rich events, and valuable networking opportunities.
In recent years, FIAM has proudly orchestrated Montreal’s premier summer gathering for the financial community. The 9th edition, held on August 25, 2022, saw a remarkable turnout, with around 300 participants coming together to partake in this influential event.
Collaboration with key partners
FIAM nurtures strategic relationships with vital local, national, and international partners, encompassing professional associations, semi-public institutions, industrial collaborators, and esteemed institutes/universities. This strategic positioning serves as a dynamic bridge, facilitating the seamless exchange of information and enabling us to operate as a conduit. Through these collaborations, we identify and harness sources of synergy, fostering collective engagement among diverse stakeholders.
In Quebec, FIAM stands at the nexus of the academic and financial realms, with a special focus on the asset management community. This includes active engagement with key players in the AI domain, such as Mila, IVADO, and Scale AI, thus fortifying our commitment to driving innovation and collaboration at the intersection of these spheres.
The 5 main activities of FIAM
- One of our core activities involves curating impactful content events, including the November 2021 conference and the vibrant Méchoui summer gathering. These events not only aim to facilitate meaningful interactions among industry experts but also stand as platforms that foster the growth of FIAM's most valuable asset: its extensive network of relationships.
- From this network, and by way of example, the aggregation and dissemination of information can empower businesses to swiftly pinpoint the expertise residing within universities and research hubs. This network also serves as a conduit, effectively bridging researchers and companies to address specific demands. Beyond this, it paves the way for dynamic initiatives like networking sessions and knowledge transfer endeavors – think conferences, workshops, and even opportunities for student internships.
- There is a need to educate and raise awareness among asset owners and managers regarding the multitude of untapped applications that AI/AA (Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Analytics) can bring to the realm of asset management.
- FIAM embraces a proactive "watch" function, consistently staying attuned to worldwide advancements, significant trends, pivotal issues, and emerging opportunities. This encompasses leading enterprises, cutting-edge technologies, innovative applications, scholarly research, and the practical adaptability of fundamental research outcomes.
- The development of a pool of talent with hybrid knowledge of finance and AI/AA. In pursuit of this goal, FIAM has made a deliberate choice to endorse the FDP professional designation provided by the eponymous Institute, as a strategic step towards nurturing this unique blend of expertise. This role stands as a pillar within FIAM's overarching mission. The cultivation of a vibrant talent community entails a multifaceted approach, encompassing strategic networking engagements with industry experts, comprehensive internship opportunities, educational scholarships, and the establishment of a robust mentorship network.
